The Barn
No jeans, no underwear, no nothing! This is our First
Anniversary, and we are celebrating it with a naked party at the Barn.
We invite all men to join us there. There will be a small cover charge
($2 for members, $3 for non-members), and some snacks will be
provided. If you prefer to get naked only among other naked men, this
is the time to do it! We'll have the place to ourselves, including the
disco on the second floor and the a-maze-ing third floor.
Remington's (377 Yonge Street) is one of Toronto's hottest gay
strip clubs. In the interest of turning the tables and getting really
ironic and fun, they invited TCAN to come and get naked and watch the
strippers strip for the first time in December. Naked men got in
free, everyone has to pay the $5 cover charge. We had a
terrific time that first night, although the strippers were a little
confused! :-) About 30 men dared to go bare, not including the dozen
or so hot strippers. Reminton's loved us (and the business we
generated), and so they have invited us to come join them on
Valentine's Day. If you've got the balls, come
join us: it'll be a blast!

Buddies in Bad Times theatre is joining with TCAN
for a first-of-its-kind experience in Toronto: a Naked Audience night
at the new production of Ken Brand's "The Bathhouse Suite".
Playing in Tallulah's Cabaret,
this five man show chronicles the loves, lusts, and losses of men who
love men as they strive to create community in a tough place, in a tough
time. Tickets are $9, and are available directly from Buddies, 12

Doors open at 7:30, and showtime is 8:30, and the bar will be open until

Not enough people officially registered their interest in
attending, so the swimming was cancelled. However, 9 of us joined the
Ontario Roaming Bares, a family-oriented nudist group, for their
monthly swim. We had a really nice time, and they've invited TCAN to
come and join them on a more regular basis. I suspect that we
might.
Mon 22 April, 8-11pm: Name Tag Construction Meeting
We weren't as ready to hold it then as I thought we would.
My computer was dead for several weeks and my life was on hold while I
was waiting for it to be fixed. Fortunately it has risen from the
dead and is behaving itself reasonably well.
This meeting will be
devoted to laminating and assembling the name tags, and tying them with a
string for wearing aournd your neck. We should only need about 4 or 5

Celebrating the Body Erotic is a 2 day hands-on workshop that
teaches how to integrate sexuality and spirituality in a playful and
fullfulling way. Each participant learns to give and receive a
complete Taoist Erotic Massage, in a style similar to the one used by
Michael Baker at the Pegasus and Kurbash events. For more information

Kurbash
The last time we had a party at the Kurbash on a Thursday night,
we were pleasantly surprised at how many men attended, and we expect
this one to be even more popular. When it opened over a year ago, the
Kurbash was Toronto's first backroom bar that didn't try to pretend
it wasn't. It opened up the marketplace, and now Toronto is really a
great place to visit! Our parties at the Kurbash are really nice, a
great mix of open friendliness, comradery, and an erotically
charged atmosphere. $2 for members, $4 for non-members.
We're heading back to Pegasus (491 Church St. on the 2nd floor)
for dinner on Sat May 18th. This all-you-can-eat buffet dinner costs
$8 for members and $12 for non-members, but you must reserve your
space in advance by leaving us a message before Monday May 13th. No
reservations will be accepted after that date. The doors open at 7pm,
and dinner will be served at 8. At 9:30, the doors will open to all
men for another night of naked billiards. We had over 60 people eat
with us last time, and around 120 altogether for the billiards, so we
are really looking forward to this.

It was going to be a coffee night hosted by my lover and I, but
given that the TCAN Info Hotline has just
past the 10,000 mark (since I recorded the first message on 17 Feb

Singing Out is Toronto's Lesbian and Gay Chorus, which was started
and is directed by one my best friends since we were both in Grade 6.
(For our international audience, that means we were both 10 when we met,
our birthdays being in October. We are now both 31, which means we've
friends for far longer than seems possible. :-) The chorus is great,
and although it will not be a naked event at all, it will be terrific

Our first event at the O'Conner Gallery (473A Church Street) was
in March, and we had a fabulous time! In honour of Lesbian
and Gay Pride Week in Toronto, Dennis O'Connor is putting together a
breathtaking show of erotic art by lesbian and gay artists called
"Sexual Primer". The featured artist is Zilon, and includes Part Two
of his piece "Porno No No". The show is a must see, and what better
a way to see it than in the nude? Everyone is welcome to join us for
wine, cake, and an appreciation of the (erotic) arts.
Toronto celebrates Pride Day this year on Sun, June 30th. Last
year there were 650,000 people visiting, and my
lover and I spent
most of the day naked in the heart of Toronto's gay village. This
year we will once again have a table on Church Street to promote TCAN
and naturism in Toronto. We are considering having a float in the
parade as well. We'll need volunteers willing to hang out and chat
with people during the day for short shifts, and we'll need help

TCAN is having a naked house party in the evening on Pride Day.
It's BYOB, with limited smoking areas, and in Toronto's gay

This is the day we celebrate the formation of Canada as a
nation. We haven't planned any specific TCAN events, since this is
the day after Pride Day, but I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of
us wanted to head out to one of Toronto's unofficial nude beaches.
Thu 4 July 96, 8:30pm-12am: Passion Dancing Naked
The Passion Dances are "ecstatic interactive dance experiences
for men in a substance-free environment." I've gone to all of them
held in Toronto, and loved them. They are led by Matthew Simmons of
the Body Electric School, and he helps us get
fully present, comfortable with each other, interacting with each
other, and naked. Periodically through the night he will lead us
all in simple group dances (no coordination required! :-), circle
dances, and chain dances. The rest of the time we dance to wide
variety of great dancing music from many cultures. It's a wild,
crazy, and ecstatic time. The last two I went to ended with an
amazing ritual: whoever wanted to join in was given two lit candles
that were carried in the palms of our hands. As a memorial to those
we have lost, Matthew led us in a beautiful, graceful dance
with movements that remind me of tai chi. Seeing 80 men dancing
with me, the candles flickering in the dark, and the other men
watching and witnessing our experience, was a very powerful and

For a mere US$425, you have the pleasure of attending this
wonderful event, set in a lovely cabin-filled campground in Maryland.
This year they are accepting around 400 men. The fee includes
housing, 3 meals per day, juices, soda, beer, and use of the camp's
facilities. The registration deadline is June 1st, after which there
is a US$30 late fee. No registrations will be accepted after June 15th.
I went last year at had a terrific time, and I recommend it highly for

Thurs 18 July 96, 9:30pm+: Naked Night at the
Kurbash
The May party at the Kurbash was really hot: we had over 100
naked men filling the Kurbash, and only a third of them were
members. The rest were new friends and potential recruits! :-)
It's amazing how many men in Toronto are ready to participate in
naked events! $2 members, $4 non-members.
Sun 21 July 96, 11am-6pm: TCAN Picnic
There are places around Toronto which are lovely to visit but
hard to find. We'll be guiding you to this one. It's a bit of a
walk, so you'll want to bring your bike or roller-blades.

Two of our members have a lovely big place in Brampton.
We'll have a potluck barbeque as well. BYOB, and bring 2 towels:
one to sit on, and one to dry yourself with. There will be one
pick-up from Kipling Station at 2pm, and the hosts will help to

GNI
International Gathering of Gay Male Naturists
Planning what to do this summer? If you can't got to the IMEN
Gathering, try to go to the GNI one! Better yet, go to both! I did
last year, and in many ways the made it a much better summer. The
GNI gathering is the larger of the two, and has been going on for
over a decade. This year they are expecting around 800 men. The
Pennsylvania campground at which the GNI Gathering is held is very
beautiful and has great facilities, and this year they've replaced
the old mattresses with new ones. The fee is US$329 for Aug 21 to
25, and US$469 for the entire week. You must be a GNI member to
attend (membership fee is US$30 per year). Registrations are due
July 12th, after which a US$30 late fee is required. No
registrations will be accepted after August 1st.
24 August 1996, 8pm+: House Party & Dancing
One of our Scarborough members is having a party. He's got a
big house, and a great collection of music, so it should be a great
night!
We split this meeting into two parts. Both are open to all
members. The first part deals with Planning Committee business (and
in particular, we'll be talking about the newsletter and elections).
The second part deals with filling in the schedule for the next few
months. Everyone is welcome.
Sat 7 Sep, 9pm+: Slumber Party
Peter and I are having a party at our place, starting at 9pm.
It's BYOB, and smoking is outdoors only. Those who want to can stay
overnight; you might want to bring some bedding. And a
toothbrush.
Sun 8 Sep, 12-3pm: Naked Brunch at the Toolbox
Everyone is welcome to join us for brunch, after our slumber
party, at the Toolbox. It's all you can eat. $7 members, $9
non-members.
Wed 18 Sep, 8-11pm: Coffee Night
Coffee Nights are social evenings where we have a change to chat
with other TCAN members, and meet new friends. It's for members
only, or for men who are planning to join. For more information,

Fri 27 Sep, 9-11:30pm: Bowling!
Another night of naked bowling! It's a great space, and a
friendly, social time. Admission is $8 for members, $10 for
non-members, and you must reserve a space in advance either by
sending us e-mail
or leaving a message on our Info Hotline.
Admission is restricted to 40 men, so please contact us soon.
Jim is having a party on Fri Dec 20th, starting at 9pm.
It's BYOB, and bring your towel and your name tag, if you've got one.
Ken is hosting a Christmas Eve party on Dec 24th. Again, BYOB, and bring
a towel and your name tag (if you have one).
Peter and I are having a potluck dinner on Sat Dec 28th. Arrive between
7:30pm and 8pm, and we'll start eating after 8pm. If you just want to join
us for the party afterwards, that's okay too.
On New Years Eve, Ronn and Don are having another party at their home
in Brampton. Travel arrangements and overnight accommodations can be made.
There is a maximum of 25 people, so please make your reservation early.
