The TNT!MEN Hotline is a set of recorded messages arranged in a simple tree structure. You need a touch-tone telephone to access the line, but that does not mean that you need to have touch-tone dialing service with your telephone company. If you have a phone that has a switch that lets you choose "PULSE" or "TONE", you can set it to "PULSE" for dialing, and then switch it to "TONE" to operate the Info Hotline.
Our extension is part of Xtra! Magazine's telephone extension service. They provide hundreds of community groups in and around Toronto with voice-mail, many of them free. (If you just want a simple outgoing message, it's free. If you want a message tree ("press 1 for this, press 2 for that") or incoming messages or call forwarding, it costs, but not that much. If you have a community group in Toronto, I suggest you check it out.)
Here's what to do:
You can choose any of these options at any time; you don't have to wait for a prompt.
If you do leave us a message, you must press "2" when you finish recording. Xtra! will play back your message, and you can chose to send it by pressing "2" again, or re-record it by pressing "3". If you just hang up without explicitly sending the message, we will never get it.
Remember, this is a volunteer-run organisation: it may take us several days to return your call. Please be patient: we will get back to you as soon as we can.
