At a meeting this morning with the Director of Parks and Recreation,
representatives from the Marine Police unit, City Hall, the Environtal
Task Force, TNT!MEN, the Federation of Canadian Naturists, Hanlan's
Beach Naturists, and others, a decision was made to use the southern
end of of Hanlan's Point beach for the pilot project.
This was not the optimal decision in many ways: the south end is is mostly a pebble beach which is much narrower than the sandy beach at the north end. However, this is just for the pilot project. Depending on numbers and the distribution of people at the beach, we can hopefully get the most of, if not the entire beach, assigned for clothing optional use when the end of the year review begins.
The beach is being prepared for nude use come this weekend. It will be groomed and fenced and signs mounted by this Friday. Until that time, police are still ticketing nudists, so be careful.
