First Hot Day Proves New Hanlan's Point Nude Beach to be a Great Success! (29 May 1999)

Today was the first Saturday with good weather (sunny, 29 degrees), and Toronto's new nude beach was packed with over 300 people! According to numbers gathered by TNT!MEN members, 90% of these beach-goers were nude. The crowd was a mix of gay and straight, and there were even some kids.

The small area of the beach that was allocated for nude use was getting quite crowded, while the rest of the beach was virtually deserted. No nude use was seen outside the fenced area, and I heard no complaints about rude behaviour (cameras, loud music, staring, etc.)

The comments I did hear were extremely positive. People seem very happy that there is a place where they can go to be naked without worrying about police harrassment. There were a couple of uniformed cops who strolled the beach a few times, chatting with the nudists and appearing quite friendly.

Unfortunately, the food stands at Hanlan's Point are not open yet, so be sure to bring whatever food and drink you might want, along with plenty of sunblock. Expect lots of TNT!MEN members there on Sunday!
