On Thursday 9 September the Crown Attorney officially dropped the charges against the 19 men arrested at the Toronto club "The Bijou" who were charged with commiting "indecent acts". While this is indeed a victory for the gay community, since the excuse the Crown Attorney made for dismissing the charges was pretty weak, he did promise that any future charges that the police lay will be be prosecuted.
This gives the police a free hand to use the century-old "indencent act" and "bawdy house" laws to treat good people like criminals. These laws MUST be changed; our right to give and receive pleasure must not be controlled or limited by the government.
