I'm afraid we've got bad news: the Barn's trial will NOT begin tomorrow. Is anyone surprised? After two years of delays, this is exactly what we expected. Of course, we only found out at the last minute because Peter Simm wormed the information out of the Barn's lawyer's secretary.
However, the news isn't all bad. Apparently a deal was worked out
between the Barn's lawyer, the Crown prosecutor, and a judge. Because
the issues they will be dealing with are fairly complex and extensive,
we'll have a real judge for the trial, not just a Justice of the
Peace. The trial will focus only on the issue of whether mere nudity
constitutes disorderly conduct, which obviously it doesn't. I expect a
fairly easy victory, and because it's a real judge, the ruling will
affect the cops, and the outcome will no doubt affect all bars and
licensed nudist clubs in Ontario. The date is set for June 26th, so if
we get a speedy ruling, our "Show Your Pride" dance on June 29th may be
naked after all!
